Account Executive

Fahlgren Mortine, a nationally recognized independent marketing and communications agency, is looking to add a marketing and communications account executive to its team in Dayton, Ohio.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supports the day-to-day marketing and communications responsibilities of assigned accounts
  • Develops a thorough understanding and knowledge of clients’ businesses and their competitive environments
  • Contributes to the development and execution of account plans
  • Moves projects from initiation to completion effectively and efficiently
  • Supports media relations campaigns via development of strategic media lists and editorial calendars, as well as creative story angle development
  • Develops editorial media contacts and relationships with key media
  • Prepares a full range of written materials including creative briefs, press releases, bylined articles, client correspondence and reports
  • Contributes to the development, execution and measurement of social media campaigns
  • Writes background materials, assists in development of client presentations, helps implement account programs and may maintain regular contact with client(s)
  • Assists in developing and executing events, including managing logistics and associated budgets
  • Accountable to partner with appropriate staff on new business activity
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the entire marketing and communications landscape to support integrated programs
  • Maintains awareness and understand of new marketing and communications technologies and techniques


  • 1-3 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably in an agency setting
  • Strong critical thinking, research, project management, communications, writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency using AP Style is preferred
  • Solid media relations and social media experience
  • Proven understanding of marketing and communications, social media and online and traditional media
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and balance priorities
  • Ability to take initiative and embrace assigned responsibility; will work independently and in team settings
  • Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading
  • BA/BS in advertising, public relations, strategic communications, journalism or related fields
  • Ability to travel – approximately 15% travel may be required (majority of travel is between agency and client location, as well as between agency locations)

Hermes Awards Ceremony – Reservations Open

Join your peers for AAF-Dayton’s romantic Valentine’s dinner for 400 as we recognize the best advertising from 2014 in the Greater Dayton Area.

Event Timing

  • Awards & Display with hors d’ouevres and cash bar:  6:00 – 7:30pm
  • Banquet Dinner (menu selections below) and cash bar: 7:30-8:45pm
  • Awards Presentation: 8:45pm (cash bar will remain open)


  • Display reception, dinner & awards ceremony – $60 for members, $75 for non-members
  • Display reception and awards ceremony option (no dinner) – $35 for members, $45 for non-members
  • Table of 10 Sponsorship – includes display reception, preferred dinner seating with company name on table, and a 1/2 page ad in the program – $800 for the first table and $700 for each additional table.  This option will not be available after the reservation deadline.
  • Payment must be received with reservations
  • AAF-Dayton Traditional, Associate & Student members are allowed to bring 1 guest at the member rate.  Any additional are at the non-member rate.  Company members are allowed to bring everyone at the member rate as a benefit of that membership level.
  • When you reserve, you will need to go through all the steps, otherwise your reservation may not go through.  If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, it did not go through.
  • This is a seated event.  When you arrive at the event, there will be a list by company name with your table number.  We will have the list on our website a few days before the event as well.
  • For dinner attendees, your meal tickets with menu selection will be in an envelope at your table with your company name on it.  If your group has multiple attendees, the envelope will be at the first table listed on the seating list and you may distribute to your attendees at all your tables.

Reservation Deadline

  • February 2, 2015 is the reservation deadline
  • Reservations made after this date will cost an additional $25 per person

  • Boneless braised short ribs with a demi red wine glaze
  • Chicken marsala – marsala wine and mushroom sauce
  • Vegetarian napoleon – layers of seasonal fresh vegetables, tomato pesto, fresh herbs and tomato coulis


Dress for the Hermes is what you might wear to a wedding.  Many men wear suits, although we also see some in more casual attire.  Many ladies wear evening attire, anything from cocktail dresses or dressy pants/tops, to floor-length gowns.

This individual is responsible for leadership and overall management of integrated industrial and technology business-to-business client accounts. This individual also drives long-term business building, the development of marketing and communications strategies, oversees account team management and has overall accountability for assigned client budgets and planning.

  • Collaborates with a team to develop globally integrated marketing and communications campaigns for business-to-business clients
    • Deeply engages in clients businesses, including but not limited to HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning), data center and information technology

Qualifications, experience and travel:

  • At least 10 years of marketing and communications experience; preferably working in an agency setting
  • Results-based marketing and communications experience working in one or more of the following areas: HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning), data center, information technology, manufacturing/industrial, technology, and supply chain management and logistics
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of marketing and communications in the business-to-business landscape and the ability to understand clients’ businesses and their competitive environments

Stuffed Animal Collection

AAF-Dayton is joining forces with the Victoria Theatre Association and ABCF22/FOX45 to collect stuffed animals.  We will be collecting them at our December 4th meeting.  The animals collected will benefit the brave children who must spend the holidays at Dayton Children’s Hospital. What better way to show love and compassion to local children and their families than to take presents to them during their hospital stay.

All stuffed animal donations must be new with the tags attached, in accordance with Dayton Children’s Hospital donation policy.

The internship will provide a college junior or senior with the opportunity to gain experience working in an integrated marketing and communications firm, as well as the chance to learn about the integration of paid, earned, owned and shared channels.
